There is a local Minor Eye Care Scheme (MECS) in your area, this provides NHS paid for triage for eye problems in primary care. MECS optometrists have a direct interface with the consultants at local HES clinics.
We triage urgent trauma, red eyes and sudden vision loss as well as more routine issues such as dry eye this is available to all patients registered with a GP in Mid and North East Essex.
Patients can contact MECS optometrists themselves, patients can be signposted direct to enable easy access.
